In the last issue of the Bonner Jahrbücher (210/211, 2010/2011, 525 fig. 2) a bronze object from Heimbach-Vlatten near Düren was published, a part of a penannular brooch with foot plate and stylized animal heads. It is only the second find in the Rhineland (provinces of Gallia belgica and Germania inferior) of such a brooch. Those are mainly found in the middle Danube area and in north-eastern Italy. There, they belong to the late third and fourth century A. D. This brooch could have reached the area between today Cologne and Aix-la-Chapelle with a military person (active soldier, veteran) or a civilian (official, merchant). Also a souvenir
from Pannonia seems possible.
